Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 June 2026

Wastrel is a free game made for fun. Play fair, be decent to other players, and understand it's provided "as is". By playing, you agree to the terms below.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or playing Wastrel at play-wastrel.com ("the game"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the game.

2. The game

Wastrel is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial entertainment. It's an evolving hobby project: features, content, and the leaderboard may change, pause, or be discontinued at any time without notice.

3. Your account

You can play anonymously or sign in with Google. You're responsible for activity under your player identity. The display name you choose is public on the leaderboard, so don't use a name that's offensive, impersonates someone, or contains private or unlawful content. We may remove names or scores that break these rules.

4. Fair play

The daily leaderboard is meant to be a fair contest. You agree not to:

Scores are verified server-side; runs that can't be verified, or that we believe are fraudulent or abusive, may be hidden or removed, and access may be revoked.

5. User content

The only content you submit is your display name and your run data (scores and move logs). You grant us permission to store and display this content as part of the leaderboard, replays, and game features. You confirm you have the right to use the name you submit.

6. Intellectual property

All game content — the name "Wastrel", artwork, audio, characters, writing, and code — is original and owned by its creator. You may share links to the game freely, but you may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from the game's assets without permission.

7. No warranty

The game is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation. Your progress and scores may be lost; back up nothing you can't afford to lose (it's a game).

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the creator of Wastrel is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or progress, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the game.

9. Termination

You can stop playing and clear your data at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms or abuses the service.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits any mandatory consumer rights you may have where you live.
