Wastrel is a free browser game. It's a hobby project, not an ad or data business: we collect the minimum needed to run a leaderboard and save your progress, we don't show ads, and we never sell your data.
Wastrel ("the game", "we", "us") is a free, browser-based game available at play-wastrel.com. This policy explains what information the game handles and why. Questions: [email protected].
localStorage. This stays on your device. We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how the game is played so we can make it better, for example which screens people use, where they get stuck, and whether they come back. There are two levels. By default we use anonymous, cookieless analytics: no cookies, no persistent identifier, no session recording, and it cannot identify you. If you tap Allow on the banner, we additionally turn on session replays (anything you type, such as your name, is masked and never recorded) and stats that follow you across your devices, which helps us fix problems faster. Choosing Anonymous only keeps just the anonymous layer. We never use any of it for advertising and never sell this data. We honour your browser's “Do Not Track” setting, and you can change your choice by clearing the game's on-device storage in Settings.
On our public landing page (the home page at play-wastrel.com, not the game itself) we use the same PostHog in a cookieless, anonymous mode: no cookies, no localStorage, no persistent identifier, and no session recording. It only measures aggregate things like which sections of the page people click and how far they scroll, so we can improve the page, and it cannot identify you. We honour “Do Not Track” here too. The game itself stays fully consent-gated as described above.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google profile data is used solely to provide and improve the sign-in and save-progress feature described above; it is never used for advertising and is never sold or transferred to others except as needed to run the game (see below) or if required by law.
These providers process data on our behalf to run the game.
Leaderboard scores are kept so the boards stay meaningful. You can ask us to delete your account and associated scores at any time by emailing [email protected] with your player name or account email, and we'll remove them. You can clear all on-device data yourself in the game's Settings or by clearing your browser storage.
Wastrel is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. Continued play after a change means you accept the updated policy.
